Seychelles on a Budget

There is no single price for a Seychelles holiday. Use this page for practical cost ranges and budgeting ideas, then see our newer Seychelles for Budget Travellers guide for the broader traveller-focused strategy.

How Much Does Seychelles Cost?

There is no single price for a Seychelles holiday. As a planning guide, a couple travelling independently might think in broad ranges of US$180–300 per day for a leaner trip and US$350–650 per day for a comfortable one, before international flights. These are indicative ranges rather than fixed prices — dates, hotel choice, exchange rates, taxes, availability and activities can all move the final total considerably.

Realistic Costs for Two Adults

Budget

US$180–300/day
Simple guesthouse or self-catering stay, local meals, buses/ferries and mostly free or low-cost activities.

Comfortable

US$350–650/day
Good hotel or apartment, a mixture of local and restaurant meals, taxis or car hire where useful and several paid experiences.

Mahé and Praslin offer accommodation across a wonderfully wide range, from simple guesthouses and apartments to five-star resorts. Rates shift by date, so check the exact dates and property you have in mind before committing.

What You Can Expect to Pay

Accommodation

As a planning guide, allow roughly US$100–200 per night for a basic guesthouse, self-catering apartment or simple hotel; US$200–500 for comfortable mid-range accommodation.

Food

A couple eating mainly local takeaways, bakeries, markets and casual restaurants can aim for around US$35–70 per person per day. A comfortable mix of cafés, restaurants and occasional resort meals may be around US$80–150 per person.

Ferries

Ferries are one of the best ways to control island-hopping costs. Current 2026 published fares are approximately €56–60 one way per adult from Mahé to Praslin, €68–72 from Mahé to La Digue, and about €15 Praslin–La Digue, depending on fare source, taxes and booking conditions. A port tax may be added.

For two adults, a Mahé–Praslin–La Digue–Mahé route can therefore put roughly €270–330 into ferry tickets before optional class upgrades and other transfers.

Airport Transfers & Local Transport

Allow extra money for airport-to-hotel transfers, taxis, buses or car hire. If you change islands, remember that transport to and from the ferry jetty is separate from the ferry ticket.

Activities & Excursions

Beaches, walking and independent sightseeing can cost very little. Boat trips, diving, fishing, guided hikes and specialist excursions can add US$50–200+ per person for a day.

5, 7, 10 or 14 Days: What Could It Cost?

  • 5 days: Budget US$900–1,500 · Comfortable US$1,750–3,250
  • 7 days: Budget US$1,260–2,100 · Comfortable US$2,450–4,550
  • 10 days: Budget US$1,800–3,000 · Comfortable US$3,500–6,500
  • 14 days: Budget US$2,520–4,200 · Comfortable US$4,900–9,100

Where You Can Save

Accommodation

Guesthouses, self-catering properties and smaller local stays can cost considerably less than large resorts. Booking early can give you more choice.

Food

Local takeaways, cafés and markets can be much better value than relying on resort restaurants for every meal.

Activities

Many beaches, walks and scenic places can be enjoyed independently. Mix free or low-cost experiences with one or two paid excursions.

Getting Around

On Mahé and Praslin, buses can be a useful low-cost option for travellers comfortable with local public transport. Rental cars and taxis provide more flexibility but increase the daily cost. On La Digue, bicycles are a popular way to explore.

Plan Island Hopping →

Budget Island Hopping

You do not need to visit every island. A well-planned Mahé, Praslin and La Digue itinerary can provide beaches, nature, culture and activities without adding unnecessary transfers.

Spend Where It Matters

If your budget allows only a few special experiences, choose the things that are hardest to reproduce elsewhere: a memorable boat trip, a guided nature experience, particularly beautiful accommodation or a meal you have genuinely been looking forward to.

Simple Budget Tips

  • Travel outside the busiest periods when suitable fares and accommodation are available.
  • Book ferries and accommodation with enough time to compare options.
  • Use local food options rather than eating every meal at resorts.
  • Build free beaches and walks into your itinerary.
  • Check baggage and transfer costs before choosing an island-hopping route.
  • Compare flight dates before fixing the rest of your itinerary.
  • Choose a few memorable paid experiences rather than paying for an excursion every day.

Check Live Prices Before You Book

Use this page as a planning guide, then check live prices. Booking.com is useful for current accommodation availability and rates. For flights, compare the airline’s own booking site. For ferries, check the current operator schedule and fare before travelling.

Budget Does Not Mean Missing Out

Some of the most memorable Seychelles experiences are simply being outside: walking through forest, swimming at a beautiful beach, watching the sunset or sharing local food.
