EVENINGS IN SEYCHELLES
Seychelles Nightlife & Things to Do After Dark
Dinner, sunset drinks, live music, clubs, night diving and a small number of later-night venues across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
Seychelles has a relaxed rather than nonstop nightlife scene. Most visitors spend their evenings over dinner, sunset drinks, live music or an evening of Creole culture. Mahé has the widest choice, including bars, clubs and a few venues offering games of chance, while Praslin and La Digue are quieter.
Venues change their opening days, hours and entry rules often. Check each venue’s own page or social media before you go.
What Is There to Do in Seychelles at Night?
Evenings here are built around the setting: a long dinner, a drink as the sun goes down, live music in a beach bar and, on some nights, a DJ and a dance floor. Beyond the venues there are things you will not find in a city, such as night diving, stargazing away from town lights and cultural evenings with Creole music and dance.
Is Seychelles Good for Nightlife?
It depends on what you want. If you are looking for a big club district open every night, this is not that place. If you want good food, a warm evening and a few lively spots within a short taxi ride, it works well. Friday and Saturday are the big nights, when places such as The Boardwalk run DJs late.
What time does nightlife start?
Dinner is the main event, usually from around 7 or 8 pm. Bars fill later in the evening and the clubs get going after that. Venues with live bands often start early in the evening and run until about 10 pm.
A Complete Evening in Seychelles
- Around 6 to 8 pm: sunset drinks on the beach, then dinner.
- Around 8 to 10 pm: a restaurant with live music, cocktails at a lounge or a beach bar.
- From about 10 pm: a bar or a club, or one of the venues offering games of chance.
- After midnight: the clubs, mostly on Friday and Saturday.
Nightlife on Mahé
Mahé has by far the largest choice, and most of it is concentrated in a few areas. See our Mahé guide for the island as a whole.
- Victoria: Barrel Bar & Nightclub on Revolution Avenue is a bar, restaurant and club with DJs playing house, hip-hop, EDM and Afrobeat, and themed nights.
- Beau Vallon: the island’s main evening beach. Beach Shak, at the northern end of the bay, is a reggae bar and grill with sunset views and live DJs and local bands, so it is worth arriving early for a seat.
- Eden Island: The Boardwalk Bar and Grill is a waterfront restaurant and nightclub. Its weekly line-up has included karaoke, live bands and DJs, with the late nights on Friday and Saturday.
- Between the airport and Anse Royale: Katiolo is an open-air nightclub with a smart-casual dress code. Check its days and entry before you go.
- Baie Lazare, in the south: Club Liberté and 5 Spices Restaurant are the only late-night dining and entertainment venue in Baie Lazare, close to several resorts. 5 Spices is known for sushi and Asian cuisine, and the lounge bar serves handcrafted cocktails. The restaurant is open from 6 pm with last orders until midnight, so it suits guests staying in the south who want to carry on after dinner. For details and bookings, visit 5 Spices Restaurant.
Nightlife on Praslin
Praslin evenings centre on hotel and resort restaurants and bars. The island’s best-known club is Oxygen, at Baie Sainte Anne, with DJs, a cocktail bar and a dance floor. Elsewhere, expect quiet dinners and sunset drinks. See our Praslin guide.
Nightlife on La Digue
La Digue is the slowest-paced of the three islands: dinner, sunset and a quiet evening. There is little organised nightlife, and Fun Park near La Passe is the one venue that lists live local music, on Fridays. Check opening times locally. See our La Digue guide.
Things to Do After Dark That Are Not Bars
- Night diving: offered on Mahé (the Beau Vallon area and Port Launay) and on Praslin. You need an Open Water certification plus a night-diver qualification or logged night dives. April to May and October to November are usually the most comfortable months.
- Stargazing: away from town lights, skies can be remarkably clear, which makes a quiet beach or a hillside a good spot.
- Culture after dark: Moutya, Sega and festival evenings give a different picture of Seychellois life. Ask your accommodation what is on during your stay. See Seychelles Culture, Folklore and Customs & Traditions.
- Sunset cruises and evening excursions: several operators run them, so book ahead in peak season. See Things to Do in Seychelles.
Venues Offering Games of Chance
A small number of licensed venues in Seychelles offer games of chance. They are licensed by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority and are strictly 18+, and valid ID is required at the door. Three are covered here:
- Club Liberté (Baie Lazare, Mahé): doors open at 2 pm with the bar and gaming machines, and at 6 pm with the tables and restaurant. Last orders are until midnight and doors close at 2 am.
- Gran Kaz (Bel Ombre, north Mahé): open daily from 11 am to 2 am, with Tanbour Bar and Grill, a sports bar with a very large screen for live matches.
- Amusement Centre (Victoria): a licensed slot venue in the capital. Check its current details locally.
Please play responsibly and only for entertainment. Set a budget before you go, and do not play to win back losses.
Getting Home Safely
Seychelles is generally considered safe, but take the usual care at night. Many venues are not within walking distance of where you are staying, so arrange a taxi or a designated driver in advance. Roads are narrow and winding, and driving after drinking is dangerous. For more, see Practical Tips.
