Sailing in Seychelles
Can you sail in Seychelles? Yes — sailing connects beaches, granite islands, marine areas and secluded anchorages. Choose a shared day sail or private charter, and plan around the route, vessel, weather and activities you want.
Why Sail in Seychelles?
Sailing reveals a different side of Seychelles, linking beaches, islands, marine environments and quiet anchorages in one journey. Options range from shared excursions to private charters and longer specialist sailing trips.
Where Can You Sail?
Sailing experiences commonly operate around Mahé, Praslin, La Digue and neighbouring islands. Longer or specialist charters can reach further, depending on the vessel, weather, route and operator.
Day Sail or Private Charter?
A shared day sail offers a straightforward way to experience Seychelles from the water. A private charter provides more control over timing and route, with opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, fishing or dining where the operator and conditions allow.
What to Plan
- Departure island and meeting point.
- Vessel and group size.
- Route and intended stops.
- Weather and sea conditions.
- Food and drinks.
- Snorkelling, fishing or other activities.
- Return timing and transfer arrangements.
Sailing Safely
Choose properly licensed and reputable operators and follow their safety guidance. Routes may change with wind, swell and weather, so allow flexibility rather than expecting a fixed itinerary in every condition.
Plan More Boat and Water Experiences
Sailing can be combined with snorkelling, fishing, diving and island visits. See Seychelles Excursions, Snorkelling in Seychelles, Fishing in Seychelles and Diving in Seychelles.
